By Jennifer Alpeche, About.com Guide to San Francisco Travel
From festivals to walking tours, museums to landmarks, there's plenty to see and do in San Francisco year-round. Deciding what to do can certainly be done on the fly, but it never hurts to look and plan ahead for your trip. Perhaps you're visiting the city specifically for a convention, a concert, or a cable car ride. Whatever you want - sightseeing, shopping, attending the theater, it's here. And sure, there's popular tourist spots like Fisherman's Wharf, but don't limit your visit to just there. Go further, beyond, and truly discover the City by the Bay.
Festivals

Festivals in San Francisco are certainly part of its verve and at any time of the year, you're sure to find one that's a match for yours. The diversity of the city is reflected in its fests and range to include music, heritage, literary arts and performing arts.
Tours & Itineraries

Sightseeing in San Francisco can be achieved by simply walking outside your hotel. The historic neighborhoods, interesting streets and un-missable landmarks are just waiting to be discovered. Tours can be self-guided or part of a group, from walking to cable car to audio to bus.
Tourist Stops

These tourist stops (and a few traps) are on the checklist of most every first-time visitor. As you'll see they provide wonderful backdrops for any photo too - of which you're sure to take many in San Francisco as this city's scenic beauty is one of its main attractions.
Museums and the Theatre

Looking for culture? The arts? S.F.'s got the answer with a good number of museums, theaters, and at least one movie palace. See the concert, the Broadway hit, or exclusive exhibition here.
