Planning Your SF Trip: Things to Remember

Just a few more things...

If visiting from overseas, traveler's checks are a good bet, but they should be in US denominations to make exchanges easier. As for cash, exchange your foreign currency before visiting as this will also make for a simpler time. Again, one less thing to worry about once you're here in San Francisco. If you are set with US currency or traveler's checks, then you can start your trip right away.

Credit cards (or debit cards with a credit card logo, such as Visa or MasterCard), are musts. It's good to have at least one credit card with you, should one be required for a purchase or deposit. For instance, if you wish to rent a car, you will need to provide a credit card. Debit cards are great for traveling as you can better control how much you spend, and for purposes such as deposits, you just need the number. Note: credit card purchases sometimes require a minimum spent.

  • You might want to check for travel insurance, road assistance, and customs (to learn what you can and cannot bring back with you).
  • If from overseas, it's a good idea to know how to reach your consulate, just in case you need to contact them - such as for a lost passport. But again, we hope that doesn't happen!
  • Pack properly for the season and for what you plan on doing when in San Francisco. If you have tickets for the opera, then pack for that, but most importantly, pack for the weather.
Have a blast!!
