Definition: Definition: A fine-art museum featuring American art from the 17th through the 20th centuries, as well as eclectic works representing the native Americas, Africa, and the Pacific. Collectively and by piece, these treasures continue a tradition founder H.M. de Young dedicated himself to for more than 20 years. The museum itself dates back to 1895, with the new de Young Museum’s present location and design debuting in 2005.
