Alcatraz Island, Prison in San Francisco Bay

Located in the middle of San Francisco Bay, Alcatraz Island originally served as a lighthouse -- the first lighthouse and U.S. fort on the west coast. The rebuilt lighthouse (1909) stands 84'.
