What's the Fillmore Jazz Festival?

By Jennifer Alpeche, About.com

Question: What's the Fillmore Jazz Festival?
Answer: American author William Saroyan wrote – "No city invites the heart to come to life as San Francisco does. Arrival in San Francisco is an experience in living." Helping to invigorate that spring in your step is the music of the city. Year-round, it beats with diversity, creativity, and soul.

Part of it all is the annual Fillmore Jazz Festival. From riffs and back-beats to interludes and standards, this festival reliably delights in a way that only it can. One weekend each summer, it's nonstop jazz from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. for over 90,000 fans.

On four stages – California, Sutter, Ellis, and Jackson & Fillmore – two dozen acts play, sunup till sundown. In addition, the fest also offers eight blocks of fine arts and crafts and gourmet food.
