February in San Francisco brings us such annual events as Tulipmania and Indiefest, as well as holidays Valentine's Day and Chinese New Year.
Weather: The weather will still be chilly for sure, but we are progressively moving towards spring, with average highs in the lower 60s and lows in the upper 40s. Remember your coat/jacket/sweater and ready for clear days.

Chinese New Year Parade and Celebration
February 2-24
A month-long celebration of Chinese history, culture, and the Year of the Rat. Make plans to attend the various events:

San Francisco Independent Film Festival
February 7-19
The 10th Annual SF Indiefest kicks off February 7th and continues on for 12 days, afloat with the independent spirit. There's Sundance and then there's the citys own Indiefest.
KNBR/Giants Winter FanFest
February 9, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
Spring training is right around the corner and to help get us there, the Giants will be holding their annual winter fanfest, which allows fans to got behind the scenes with a tour of the Giants Clubhouse and Dugout. The day will be completed with interactive games, displays, and meet-and-greets with members of the San Francisco Giants team.
Tulipmania Festival
February 13-18
This popular annual event showcases thousands of tulips throughout popular Pier 39. Landscaping tours are available daily, starting at 10 a.m. Free.

WonderCon, Northern California's largest comic book and pop culture convention, returns for a 22nd edition at the Moscone Center South. This years special guests will include Terry Moore, Tim Sale, Bruce Timm, and Noel Neill, who will be celebrating her 60th anniversary of portraying the Lois Lane.
What Else is On the Calendar?
- February 1-3: San Francisco Ocean Festival. Fort Mason Center, Cowell Theatre. A festival all about the "earth's last frontier," with a program of documentaries to narratives.
- February 1-3: San Francisco Arts of Pacific Asia Show. Fort Mason Center, Festival Pavilion. Now in its 12th year, the festival benefits the education programs of the Asian Art Museum. A total of 80 top international art dealers/galleries will be present to showcase exceptional collections of Asian art and artifacts from the peoples of the Pacific and mainland Asian region. See an array of pieces, from classical and ethnic arts to folk art and dynasties. The opening gala will be held January 31.
- February 3: Vietnamese Tet Festival. Tenderloin District, Larkin Street. The gets underway Sunday, February 3 (9 a.m.-6 p.m.), as the Vietnamese people celebrate the Year of the Rat. A gathering of family and friends to share warm wishes for the new year and pay homage to ancestors and the past. Free.
- February 3: Kaiser Permanente San Francisco Half Marathon & 5K. Golden Gate Park. The 25th anniversary. For runners and walkers, come and support the Hemophilia Foundation of Northern California, Support for Families of Children with Disabilities, and the Koret Family House. It's a great way to start the day, to get ready for the big party this Superbowl Sunday. $35-$50 participation fee.
- February 8-10: San Francisco Tribal, Folk & Textiles Arts Show. Fort Mason Center, Festival Pavilion. Benefiting the exhibitions at the de Young Museum, this festival will showcase pre-1940 textiles and tribal arts.
- February 8-10, 13-15: San Francisco Zoo's "Woo at the Zoo." San Francisco Zoo, One Zoo Road. A theme tour of adults that focuses on the mating behavior and relationships of animals, touching on reproduction, choosing mates, and raising families. The tour will also include romantic refreshments, such as champagne and a risotto bar. $70/person.
- February 15-17: Historic Fisherman's Wharf Classic Car Exhibit. Pier 45, Shed A, Taylor Street on Fisherman's Wharf. The S.F. Bay Area Model A Club hosts the annual classic car show Presidents' Day weekend. See restored vintage cars, trucks, and buses.
- February 15-18 (to be updated): Black Choreographers Festival: Here and Now. ODC Theater. Aiming to recognize the ingenuity and uniqueness of African and African American dance and culture. The festival provides the forum and invites all to attend. $10-$20.
- February 21-March 16: Bay One-Acts Festival. Eureka Theatre. A showcase for new playwrights. See some of the latest works by the Bay Area's drama talent.
- February 23-24: The Great San Francisco Crystal Fair. Fort Mason Center. The first of six shows to be held throughout the year, the crystal fair will offer a "magical mix" of crystals, minerals, beads, jewelry, and healing arts. $6.
- February 26-March 2: Noise Pop 2008. Various venues. Its the sweet 16 for this popular indie music fest. Look for the same energy and spirit to take over many of San Franciscos artistic venues, for concerts, art shows, and film.
- February 28-March 2: Pacific Orchid Exposition. Fort Mason Center, Festival Pavilion. Presented by the San Francisco Orchid Society, the Pacific Orchid Exposition is set to captivate as 100,000 orchids of every color, shape, and size will be on display the third weekend of February. Here you'll truly find one of the most diverse collections in the country, now in its 56th year. $8-$14.
