Christmas Performances in San Francisco

Christmas Performances in San Francisco
  • Featuring mean ol' Scrooge, adorable Tiny Tim, and those spooky Christmas ghosts, the sparkling, music-infused A Christmas Carol returns to the American Conservatory Theater through December 27th.

  • Performances of the Nutcracker continue to be a strong holiday tradition in San Francisco. And this being an iconoclastic city, several versions of the ballet, from traditional to modern, are on offer. Mark Morris' Hard Nut runs December 11-20 at Zellerbach Hall in Berkeley; both the San Francisco City Ballet School and the San Francisco Ballet perform the Nutcracker (check websites for dates); and the kid-friendly Dance Along Nutcracker takes place December 12th and 13th.

  • The charming Velveteen Rabbit performed by San Francisco's ODC Dance Company tells Margery Williams' classic tale of a well-worn nursery rabbit that becomes real though music, dance and a powerful narrative. The show runs through December 13th.

  • The San Francisco Symphony presents a series of holiday concerts from November 27th to December 31st. Shows include Prokofiev's Peter and the Wolf, a choral Christmas spectacular, and a New Years Eve masquerade ball.

  • The all-male chorus Chanticleer presents traditional carols, sacred works, and holiday favorites at St Ignatius Church on December 13 and 19th.
