Boomtown! Barbary Coast at the Conservatory of Flowers

By January 8, 2013

Follow me on:

A miniature replica of San Francisco during the Gold Rush days, complete with a miniature steam train that chugs around the city, will be on display at San Francisco's Conservatory of Flowers in Golden Gate Park until April 14th 2013.

The Conservatory of Flowers, which hosts rare and exotic plant species from all over the world in a historic Victorian greenhouse, will also be using dwarf plants to landscape the scenario and is hosting a variety of educational programs aimed at the whole family over the next couple of months.

Kids will enjoy the model trains and miniature buildings while adults learn more about the financial system at the time of the Gold Rush and they both will have fun with the several interactive displays designed to recreate life in San Francisco when it was little more than the "Barbary Coast".
