There is no better place to be on the West Coast to ring in 2013 than the stunning city by the bay and here is quick rundown of New Year's Eve activities in SF to prove it:
Start the evening off with the fireworks show over the water at the San Francisco Ferry Building. The show starts at 11:30pm and is free and open to the general public. There is plenty of room for the 200,000 plus expected attendees, but the best seats in the house are at the nearby waterfront restaurants (make reservations now!).
After the fireworks there are a ton of party options in San Francisco, here are my top recommendations:
- Streets of San Francisco New Year's Eve 2013: The city's biggest New Year's Eve bash, the Streets of San Francisco takes place at the waterfront Historic Fort Mason Center, where the massive Festival Pavilion will be turned into a giant SF-themed dance party. Check the Official Website for details.
- The San Francisco NYE Ball 2013 at the Palace Hotel: The crown jewel of downtown San Francisco's Historic Hotels, the Palace Hotel throws the city's most luxurious New Year's Eve party every year. For 2013, the hotel is devoting four rooms to different party themes including salsa, middle eastern music and a bikini show. Full details on the Official Website.
- New Years Eve Masquerade Ball with the San Francisco Symphony: Set 2013 to classical music and martinis at the Civic Center's famous annual New Year's Eve extravaganza. Ticketing and full schedule available on the Official Website.
Looking for something a little less crowded but still rocking and full of good cheer?Consider spend News Years Eve in one of the city's classic neighborhood dive bars, they will all be having local-style parties, or visit one of San Francisco's strip clubs, where New Year's Eve packs the house and champagne flows like water.
