Green Street: The Heart of North Beach

By November 10, 2012

If you want want to experience the best that San Francsico's Little Italy has to offer in just one block, than that block is Green Street between Grant Avenue and Columbus.

Not only does this bustling stretch contain several Italian eateries that have made it onto my list of the Best Italian Restaurants in San Francisco, like Sodini's and Soto Mare, it also is home to the Columbus Cafe - which tops my rundown of the Top Dive Bars in SF.

But wait that's not all, this block of Green also sports Golden Boy Pizza, the best pie by the slice you are going to find in the city as well as the coolest used record and musical instrument store in the area: 101 Music.

The only missing ingredient here is a real cafe, something that North Beach is famous for. For that you just have to turn the corner, any corner...

And did I mention that after the sun goes down this strip of pavement becomes the heart of North Beach's jumping nightlife scene? Bar after bar cater to locals and visitors alike every night of the week; it's a guaranteed good time.
